The Los Angeles Angels Of Anaheim challenged the the Seattle Mariners yesterday at Angel Stadium with the Angels triumphant 6 to 3. It was a thrilling night of baseball that anyone with Angels tickets will definitely cherish.
Angels pitcher Jered Weaver (3.76 ERA) got the win, while Ian Snell (5.28 ERA) took the loss for the Mariners. Jered Weaver went 6.1 solid innings for the Angels, allowed 7 hits, 2 home runs and 2 earned runs with no walks and 8 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Angels was Darren Oliver (2.80), Kevin Jepsen (4.50), and Trevor Bell (10.06). The Mariners’s starter Ian Snell went 5.1 innings, allowed 6 hits, no home runs and 4 earned runs with 5 walks and 2 strikeouts. Jason Vargas (5.00) also pitched for the Mariners. With the win, Weaver’s record goes to 15-5, while Snell falls to 6-10. Brian Fuentes earned the save for the Angels, bringing his saves up to 40.
In addition to the 6 runs, the Angels managed 8 hits and committed no errors. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Angels, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. Jose Lopez had the most hits for the Mariners (3), followed by Kenji Johjima (2). The Mariners mustered 3 runs, 9 hits and no errors.
Umpiring duties were performed by Bill Miller, Angel Campos, Derryl Cousins and Jim Joyce. There were 36,340 Angels ticket holders in attendance at Angel Stadium.
The win puts the Angels at a record of 83-55, still leading their division, while the loss brings the Mariners to 72-68, (12 games behind first place in the division). The Mariners get a chance for revenge tomorrow. There are still plenty of tickets available so take a look.
